Which Side Does the Graduation Tassel Start On?

If you are an undergrad student, the tassel starts on the right side of your graduation cap. When the ceremonial speaker directs you to, you will move the tassel to the left side. This symbolizes your graduation and the transition into a new phase of life.

If you are a graduate student, the tassel starts on the left side of your graduation cap. You will leave it there throughout the ceremony, symbolizing that you have already graduated before.
